This example shows how you might spend your Busa Bucks if you are not
familiar with our farm or our CSA system. I think it represents what a small family
of 2-4 might easily use during the season. Many people use the Busa bucks on
plants and flowers for the garden making it even easier to use up your share. As
you can see in this all vegetable model even during the main harvest
months of August and September you would be spending around 15 dollars a week
if you came to the farm stand just once a week. The totals you see are for the
whole month. The bunch sizes will be fairly generous, usually a big handful for
the cut greens to be over a pound. The pound prices are fairly constant but may
vary up or down slightly .You may of course come several
times a week or skip weeks if you are away and choose to buy more of some
vegetables and less of others. The plan is very flexible in that manner. For
instance if you don't like radishes you can do without them entirely and buy
more corn or tomatoes .The pick your own season will start in mid June with a
few choices and peak in late August and September when most vegetables are ready
at the same time, and taper off into October as the days get shorter and colder.
There usually are some vegetables into late November in storage or until the
ground freezes.
